LIBRARY PROFILE

ABOUT

            Library is not just house of books. It is a treasure to all kinds of information that is fundamental to learning and discovery. The world is changing rapidly and the dissemination of information even more accelerated manner. Library of today is expected to meet all the present and future needs. The CSSR & SRRM Degree & PG College Library was established at the very inception of the Institution. The library is located in the ground floor with a separate reading room for the users. The Library is well ventilated, lighted and aired to facilitate comfortable seating. It is a spacious library, spread on enlarged and has been renovated to make it more users friendly. The Library is well equipped to meet essential academic and intellectual needs of its students. It has provision of about 100 seats for users to be seated.  The Library is fully computerized allowing functions like issue, return, OPAC search, and availability assessment of books, easy and user friendly. We have bar-coded our document collections.

MISSION
The mission of the College Library is to strengthen and enhance the learning, teaching, and research and service skills. The Library promotes intellectual growth and creativity by developing collections, facilitating access to information resources and its effective usage and offering research assistance.

VISION
The vision of the College Library is clear to develop, organize, and provide access to stored materials to meet the needs of present and future generations of students and scholars. The library explores and implements innovative technologies and services to deliver information and scholarly resources which are convenient to users anytime and anyplace in the campus.  It also provides well-equipped and functional physical spaces where students can pursue independent learning and discovery outside the classroom.

OBJECTIVES
The Library works towards achieving the following aims and objectives:

  • To provide a supportive and motivating environment for students and staff.
  • To encourage all students to reach their full potential as independent self learners and develop a positive attitude to life-long learning.
  • To promote the pleasure of reading as a recreational activity in all students.
  • To provide access to relevant resources of curriculum for students and staff.
  • To provide opportunities for the students to develop technological knowledge and skills necessary to access various modern library facilities.
  • To contribute to the development of positive personal attributes within each student.


COLLECTION

            The Library has a rich collection of books on humanities, social sciences, science and commerce including History, Economics, Political Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Statistics, Botany, Zoology, Commerce, Accountancy, Management, English, Telugu and other literary books. The Library subscribes to current journals, magazines and news papers. The  Library has segregated the collection using separate codes. The total collection of the Library as on 31st March, 2020 is 5,201 books, 5 journalS,16 magazineS, 5 daily news papers besides the collection of updated e-books, e-magazines and e-news papers.

DIGITIZATION
            The College has provided central computing facility with Rail Net Wi-Fi internet connection of 80 mbps. The library system is converted to IT enabled with the help of Library Management SOUL Software. With this facility the students as well as the staff get the privilege of the Open Access System to locate the books in the library.

LOCATING BOOKS

            The library with Open access system, Online Public Access Catalogue and spacious reading rooms provides an atmosphere of accessibility and conducive to study. It provides services to the students, faculty members and staff of the college through an automated mode by using state-of-the-art integrated library management software, SOUL. Our library subscribes digital database from   INFLIBNET (N-LIST).  Library books are well stocked in accordance with Dewey Decimal Classification System. All books are bar-coded and only bar-coded books are available for circulations. Each shelf is accompanied with shelf guide, which indicates shelf number, class number (Using DDC) and subject concerned.

NEW BOOKS

·         Library members are encouraged to suggest new books for updating the library.

·         Students have to route their requests through the head of the department.

·         Please check the new arrival rack and new arrival display board outside the library for the recently acquired titles.


OTHER RESOURCES

Questions papers of past years are available at the special rack for reference. User can make photocopy of relevant papers with the permission of the librarian. We are making efforts to make the papers available in electronic form. 

Many CD’s are available in the library for reference. College has access to a large number of online electronic information text books & devotional books.  Library is member of  NLIST  programme of INFLIBNET to provide off site access to various e-journals and e-books etc. 

USER FRIENDLY

            The library is well stocked and it subscribes to many newspapers, national and international journals. Library is connected to Delhi University network (e-Shodhsindhu) with access to e-resources. It is the member of N-LIST (a programme of INFLIBNET) to provide remote access to users to huge number of e- resource.  Library is Wi-Fi enabled for internet connectivity. Many CD’s are also available in library collection. To see a complete list of books on a particular subject one should look at the library catalogue. Library catalogue can be used for checking particular titles by author’s name, title or key-word, and to find out status of any document.  Library catalogue is computerized and can be accessed from a terminal in the library. Assistance in searching the catalogue or locating books is available from the help desk.

LIBRARY MEMBERSHIP AND BORROWING

The membership of the library is open to all thestudents, faculty members and employees of the College and they can register themselves for the membership of the Library. The membership form is available at the counter.All Students, faculty and staff members are issued ID cards. Their entitlements, in terms of the number of books that can be borrowed by them, are as follows:

GENERAL RULESAND REGULATIONS

  • Students are required to show their ID cards while entering the Library, while borrowing books or  at any time when requested by the library Staff.
  • All the personal belongings including Library books issued to a member will be checked at the entrance of the Library.
  • Students are instructed to leave their bags, handbags, personal books and belongings on the racks of the library. Do not bring and keep any valuables. The library will not be responsible for them.
  • The Library users, students, staff or any other user shall not engage in audible conversation in any part of the Library.
  • The reader should check the books before borrowing to ensure that the books are not damaged. If a book is found to be damaged or certain pages are missing, the borrower should get this statement recorded on the book, otherwise he/she shall be held responsible for the damage, discovered at the time of returning the books.
  • A person shall not write upon, damage or mark any book belonging to the Library.
  • A person responsible for any damage caused by him / her to the books or any other property belonging to the Library, shall be required to pay the penalty imposed upon him/her by the Librarian.
  • Books lost by the borrowers will have to be reported immediately in writing to the librarian.
  • Use of mobile phone in the Library is strictly prohibited. Photography is not allowed.
  • Membership privileges of a user can be suspended on account of misbehaviour or indecent manners with the Librarian or staff.   
  • All the students are required to strictly adhere that sleeping, eating and having refreshments of any kind will not be allowed inside the library.
  • All the students are required to strictly adhere to the above regulations and cooperate with the library staffs for smooth and efficient functioning of the library.
