DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE  AND BUSINESS STUDIES

With the introduction of the BBA programme in the academic year 2022-23, the Department of Commerce became the Department of Commerce and Business Studies, with a mission to be the leading institution by educating and training students and fostering the development of human capital with the added value of the international standard.  The Department is dedicated to integrating all business and administration aspects to educate and train creative and competent human resources suitable for industry, commerce, service, and global corporations.  The Department empowers and encourages students, particularly in rural areas, to establish employment-generating enterprises.  The Department now offers undergraduate and postgraduate BCom, BBA, and MCom programmes.  The programmes provide a solid foundation for professional courses, such as CA, ICWAI, ACS, MBA, etc., as well as research, and they open the door to various well-paying careers. 

Objectives

  • To foster an environment conducive to teaching, learning, research, and innovation.
  • To explore, examine and determine training and development options and opportunities.
  • To prepare students for entry-level and advanced commerce and industry management positions.
  • To provide a holistic education that prepares students to face life's challenges regardless of socioeconomic disparities.
  • To generate and provide faculty and students with resources and facilities to conceive innovative ideas, foster entrepreneurship, and promote startup activities.
  • To encourage students to engage in entrepreneurship to achieve success on their own without relying on others.
  • To make students for careers in sales and marketing, accounting and finance, and human resource management.
  • To continuously compare and evaluate the performance to the established benchmarks.
  • To improve communication and analysis skills and instil discipline, and the spirit of human, moral, and ethical values, inspiring the next generation of nation builders.       

Careers:

         The BCom, BBA, and MCom graduates may have multiple options, and they can pursue their passions and interests to achieve the desired career profile.  The career options include chartered accountant, company secretary, cost accountant, and manager in banking, investment, insurance, marketing, digital marketing, stock marketing, human resource development, retail business, hotel industry, event management, and tax consulting, among many others.
